As part of the “Castrol Gear” line of lamps, this is an oil pourer from the early 1950s. Its last test mark was 1954 and shows that it was in Herefordshire, and it carries the Royal stamp as a crown with ER for Elizabeth Regina.
Vintage Shimmer – Upcycled 1954 Oil Pourer & Singer Flywheel Lamp has a gash in the bash so I was more than happy to put a hole in the base to accommodate the G9 bulb inside. The base is made from a flywheel from a vintage Singer sewing machine, and they compliment each really well.
Because there was next to no paint left on the can, I chose to give it a light rub down and use the deterioration as a feature, and gave a light rust coating of spray with a dabbed effect of both Matt black and bronze.
These old oil pourers make great lamps for desktops, work benches, walls and outbuildings, and keep alive an item from some 72 years ago to live an entirely different life.

If there is a problem with the lamp upon receipt, there is a further 14 day period in which Distorted Light must be notified. The item can be returned for repair only. Buyer pays return costs. Any costs incurred by Distorted Light product for damage caused by poorly packed returned products will incur additional charges.
Deposits paid to activate a commission of a specific lamp or to reserve a specific item will be non refundable.
