The classic Bram Stoker novel Dracula was set in the Yorkshire town of Whitby, and he comes to the town by taking the form of a gigantic dog after leaving the shipwrecked Demeter and bounding up the 199 steps to the cemetery atop the cliffs.
This lamp celebrates both the story and the famous town and steps, with a section of them, with hand rails, a milestone marker pointing to the ruined abbey, and a fabulous velvet shade with a striking image of the main character from the story. Also, in the spirit of spooky castles, hidden catches and doorways, the on/off switch is activated by tilting the lamp backwards. The body of the lamp is a beautiful Limited Edition gin bottle by the Whitby Distillery which also pays homage to the Bram stoker novel. It has a fabulous ammonite shell shaped base, which I have taken an imprint of for the bottle to sit in.
A unique, one-off creation using a beautiful bottle tied in to a historical classic story.
